Godzilla (Trailer #2) Review
Wow okay I am totally on-board now, I was a little on the fence about this project but I am in, by all means bring me the King of Monsters! I didn’t review the first trailer because I viewed it more as a teaser, this however is the real deal. Cranston’s dialogue is great in the opening and the visuals are looking really sharp, dark and very real. That last shot of what I presume is Godzilla looked great, but more on that later. The themes and sound effects also very impressive. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“In 1954 we awakened something”
“Those nuclear tests in the pacific. Not Tests.”
“We were trying to kill it”

My Score: A
Release date: 16th May 2014
Plot:
An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

What I liked
#8. Nuclear Physicist Extraordinaire Joe Brody
Loved that opening dialogue from Bryan Cranston, really powerful stuff and it gives me some insight into what the plot of this film might be. My spoilerific idea is that the military fear Godzilla after hearing of its power and create their own if they ever needed them, then it escapes and they get saved by Godzilla. Some variation of that anyway.

#7. Here He Comes!
Neat! Look at those destroyers/frigates bopping around like toys in a bath tube. Poweful beast, think its Godzilla anyway. I do wonder how similar it looks to the 1998 Godzilla entrance; kind of imagine them trying to distance themselves as much as possible.
–
#6. Nuclear Test Footage
The best part about this scene is that it is like the original in that we didn’t create Godzilla, we woke it up. Also we learn that either they killed a monster like Godzilla with a nuke or that Godzilla can just apparently take a Nuke, maybe knocked him unconscious. Ken Watanabe is also going to have some great dialogue so I am looking forward to it.
–
#5. Nuke Babies
From this image we know that something requires radiation to procreate, which suggests they are not natural creatures and where indeed created by man or aliens. Ooh aliens haven’t heard anything about that but that’d be interesting.
–
#4. Is That Rodan?
It’s very fleeting and really hard to tell but we do know there are going to be other monsters and Rodan certainly is a famous acquaintance of Godzilla’s. I could be wrong, I often am but I think it will be Rodan.
–
#3. What The Hell Is This?
Not sure what that is at all, kind of looks like an insect leg. So am going with insects because it looks like a big ass insect leg and I remember some rumours about the other monsters so yeah. I am hoping some kind of praying mantis/ ant design, seen plenty of giant spiders thank you.
–
#2. Kaiju Grave Yard
Now that is fascinating, those bones look very old. This world is old and so is the enemy. Hope that the film has the same ancient feel. This line is good “The Arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control, and not the other way around”.
–
#1. GODZILLA!!! (ゴジラ – Gojira)
COOL!!! That door won’t do shit against that bad boy. Thank goodness they didn’t try to hide him again, couldn’t handle that again. But they also kept most him hidden for later material. Looking forward to it.

What I Didn’t Like
- Not a lot of problems with this. Pretty perfect, hope I can say the same about the film.

Yeah man this is more than exciting stuff. I can’t get enough of those last few seconds of the trailer where we see the behemoth’s face!!!! I keep clicking back to that part and it gives me the chills, no lie. This film is going to be epic.
(Which is why it made my Top Ten Epic films list for this year. 🙂 ) Good stuff Tim.

Anything will be better than the 1998 version, right? After giving us two impressive trailers, Gareth
Edward’s Godzilla hopefully won’t disappoint.
