Most Anticipated Horror Films Of Summer 2014

This is my list of the most anticipated horror films released or to be released in the summer of 2014. This one may come a bit late because it is already June by now. However most on the list may be difficult to watch at first and so this list could still be used to advice you on what good horror films are coming out. I will warn you that I have come to hate haunted house films so don’t expect any on this list. Oh and horror films have very sporadic release dates so I will just be sticking to US release dates.

Update on the voting posts. I have finished the first two ‘The Good Points To Films I Hate’ and ‘A Comic Nerdy Opinion Post’ this is obviously done as well and the next two ‘A New Top Ten List’ and ‘Some Kind of Anime Post’ will be finished over the next two weeks.

#5:  Stage Fright – 9^th May

Set at a pretentious musical theater camp, this sick thriller follows teen singer Camilla Swanson (Allie MacDonald) whose dreams of Broadway turn to nightmares when a serial killer begins slaying the camp’s would-be stars. Could it be the same maniac who murdered her mother years before?

I hate Glee but I love horror so mix the two and I want dark comedy, and lots of bloody kills. Kinda looks like a musical version of Scream. If that looks fun and you enjoyed the trailer then I’d suggest watching it too. Am hearing good reviews. Still haven’t seen it and not sure if I’ll be able to see it until VOD.

#4:  The Signal – 13^th June

The story of an MIT student whose life is changed forever when tracking down a notorious hacker leads to his exposure to the signal. He’s told he’s chosen. He’s gained strange abilities. But what does it all mean?

Probably the least horror of my choices I’ll admit but that’s what you get from some of the trailer and what I have heard in buzz is that it is scary and unique. Am really looking forward to this Sci-Fi Horror. Hope you enjoy the trailer, I know I did.

#3:  Deliver Us From Evil – 2nd July

NY police officer Ralph Sarchie investigates a series of crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest, schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the possessions that are terrorizing their city.

Haven’t quite seen this before, well we have but it’s got some twists. A police officer getting involved with the supernatural, it’s kind of like any possession or haunted house film but looks like it’s everywhere in the city. At least I hope it is.

“As a cop I have seen some horrible things. But nothing that can’t be explained by human nature.”

“Then you haven’t seen true evil.”

#2:  The Purge: Anarchy – 18^th July

A couple are driving home to their kids when their car runs out of gas just as the Purge commences. Meanwhile, Leo goes out into the streets to get revenge on the man who killed his son, and a mother and daughter run from their home after assailants destroy it. The five people meet up as they attempt to survive the night in Los Angeles.

This is almost exactly what I wanted. I wanted an expanded look into the world established in the first film. I wanted to look at all different people’s lives be affected by the purge. I wanted an anthology but this will do as well.

#1:  The Green Inferno – 5th September

A group of New York City students on a good will mission to help an Amazon tribe struggling to survive. But when their plane crashes in the jungles, they become the victims of the very people they set out to save.

No idea if there is some kind of weird message in this but am just going to watch some college kids get eaten. Am imagining a better video quality version of Cannibal Holocaust. Maybe am wrong but it looks excellent. Interesting trivia, the natives are real natives who have never been filmed before. Authentic.
