Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Comic-Con Trailer #1) Review

YES!!! Holy crap batman we have gosh darn trailer! I am exceedingly excited for this film. I get what the film is now and the characters within it, but it didn’t show anything of any real consequence (no spoilers). The dialogue is fascinating and already from the trailer an improvement over the last film. The score sounds fantastic and truly epic! The action and effects look spectacular, and I cannot wait to dive into more detail so enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

“People hate what they don’t understand. Be their hero Clark, be their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be. Or be none of it. You don’t owe this world a thing, you never did.” – I really like this line.

My Score: A+ Best trailer of the year!

Release date: 25th March 2016

Plot:

Gotham City’s own vigilante, Batman, travels to Metropolis to take on Superman, fearing what would happen if the latter is kept unchecked. As Batman and Superman confront one another, a new threat arrives to put mankind in greater danger than it has previously known.

#10. New Alfred

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-alfred

Easily the most spry Alfred we’ve ever got on the big screen and looks like he could throw down himself. He also looks to keep his sharp intellect and to be a guiding voice for our Bruce Wayne. What was interesting was a part were he says that he is not our enemy. Implying that prior to the showdown Alfred and Bruce have a disagreement regarding the threat of superman or whether batman should really get involved?

#9. Clark Kent Vs Batman!

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-clark-kent

Perry White is right it doesn’t quite have the same appeal. However it’s a great look at the other side of this fight. Batman believes Superman to be the ultimate threat with too much power and the believes he will inevitably turn against humanity. But Superman sees Batman as nothing more than a psychopathic vigilante who takes the law into his own hands with brutal results. Both valid points of view.

#8. Better Look and Feel of Lex Luthor

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-lex-luthor

I really want to punch him in the face. Which is good because as a villain his face should need a good punch or two. What’s interesting about this scene is what exactly is happening? Superman appears to be bowing but am not sure that’s what’s happening. I think supes is sad or down on something and Luthor is gloating over him safe in the knowledge that supes will not strike him. I might be wrong but it’s my theory at the moment.

#7. Zod on Ice

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-Zod

Well the rumours where clearly true, Zod has indeed been scooped up and you bet they’ve been messing with that Kryptonian DNA. The theory that sounds most likely is that Dooms Day will be created through the attempt to clone or create Kryptonian soldiers.

#6. Robin Existed

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-Robin

Trailer took a far darker turn with this image. Clearly Robin existed and it would appear that the Joker killed him. The Joker clearly continues to mock and tease Bruce with another note with the same writing later in the trailer.

#5. Batman Vs Superman Soldiers?

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-batman-fighting-desert

So again I am completely lost when it comes to these soldiers. They appear to be in the Desert somewhere. Something seems off about all of this. I am still convinced this a dream sequence or something.

#4. Kryptonite Exists

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-lex-luthor-kryptonite

Kryptonite exists and Luthor has it. My wondering is how effective it is against Superman. In the films he sees it and he’s down. In the comics it’s a bit more varying in its effects. Sometimes it’s like in the films in others it weakens him but he can still put up a fair amount of resistance. It’s all up to Snyder though and we’ll have to wait and see.

#3. Superman Enters Guns Blazing

Batman-v-Superman-ComicCon-laser-eyes

Superman wanting to obliterate Batman? If the scene is actually edited the same in the film it would appear that superman shooting his heat vision. Then in the next scene we see batman dodge this. That would without a doubt kill him. I think the two scenes are separate, two different battles. The superman vs batman battle will have batman in his special suit. The scene looks to be the same scene which includes Wonder Woman, so am saying it’s from the Dooms Day battle.

#2. Wonder Woman In The Fight

Like I said above this fight will not be the Superman Vs batman fight. It would appear to be somewhere else and vs something else. She’s looking good though. Can’t wait to see her actually fight.

#1. Facing off!

The two titans face off. Human vs Alien. Man vs God. Fire vs Petroleum, Seriously that gas station will explode in like two seconds. Run for your life Batman!

I read a theory that Jared Leto’s Joker IS Robin.

I am badly excited for this film, and want to see Batman’s win. I agree, this is the best trailer of this year, actually for me it is the best from Hollywood, and hoping that the film will be also the same. It is the most exciting concept (batman and superman against each other). I hope the scene at the desert will be real, it will create more drama in the film. Also, the end part of Trailer is just awesome, it is going to be the hyper moment for the audience at the theaters.

Great synopsis. Man I am so excited for this. I have had reservations that maybe they were biting off more than they could true. This trailer REALLY made me feel better.

Actually *adjusts batnerdglasses* batman’s suit is equipped with plasma shields that reflect or re-direct superman’s signature heat vision. Wouldn’t hurt him one bit.
But yes! So glad we got a trailer!

I’m glad to see the direction they’re taking the Batman character, will help differentiate this new movie from Christopher Nolan’s films. I’m hopeful for this one, and it seems like buzz is really starting to build!

I got a little bit of goosebumps at the start of this trailer. I also got goosebumps watching the Man of Steel trailer but I can’t say I loved the actual movie haha. I’m not quite sold on Gal Gadot yet and I totally agree with you about wanting to punch Lex lol.

I’m totally on board with this. I never understood all the divisiveness this project has conjured on the basis of Man of Steel alone.

This is the picture-perfect definition of a great trailer:
    — It’s lengthy (3.5 minutes) and shows plenty of action and story tone.
    — It depicts all or most of the major characters.
    — It DOESN’T spoil any plot points!

Age of Ultron really cooled me to these Avengers films, so I’m perfectly fine with a different type of “all-star” superhero blockbuster. DC and Marvel are different companies with different stories, so their movies should also be different!

    Nice post, Tim! Hmm… I dunno. I’m a little superheroed-out but we’ll see… I’m hoping I don’t hate it. 🙂

Well Tim, you’ve successfully gotten me back to being pretty damn excited about this film. From my impressions of the first teaser/trailer I was so-so about it. A lot of stuff looks good but me not being super familiar with both worlds I think left me more indifferent than either excited or disappointed. But with this release now, I have to say if Snyder plays his cards right, he could be sitting on a monster of an epic action film. I am with you especially bout getting to see Wonder Woman in action. That’s gonna be awesome.
