Wer (2014) Mini Review
Here comes another mini review, this time an indie horror film is in my target, also related to werewolves. The film is currently out on VOD, it’s a kind of found footage horror film. But it does have a lot of none found footage scenes. On a none review topic boy does that werewolf guy look like Sébastien Chabal or as he’s nicknamed ‘The Cave Man’ in French Rugby.
I’ll go into much more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
Summer Box Office 2014 Results
Am Back! And you didn’t even know I left. Sorry for being away from the blog for a while and I may have also neglected some of the blogs I follow. Sorry about that. However I just realised I forgot to review Guardians of the Galaxy and as a result also haven’t read anyone’s reviews. However they are all bookmarked so when my review is out expect some comments.
So to this post, who won the box office this summer, the time of the blockbuster! Some upsets, some shockers and some we easily predicted. Read the rest of the post after the break and leave me a comment.
Summer Box Office 2014
Plenty of my readers know that I love a good box office prediction, and so what’s better than to predict who will win the most tightly contested season the summer, well nothing really. 2014 has a very mixed summer filled with all kinds of films; this will mean very different numbers and makes predicting them quite difficult. Normally it’s easy to see how well a sequel will make but this summer we have 3 franchises alone that have been rebooted and in their own right having sequels. That being said below is my 10 favourites to win the summer box office, not which I think will be good or that I want to win just that they will bring in the green (or whatever colour money is in your respective countries). Think I am wrong or just want to join in? Then post your 10 favourites to win in the comments section below.
47 Ronin (2013) Review
I heard awful things about this film and so didn’t go to cinema to see it, but after seeing it recently I kind of regret that. The film isn’t great by any stretch of the imagination but it isn’t bad and I had quite a bit of fun watching it. In saying that I would like to point out that I am weird and I imagine the number of people who would also like this film to be quite small, so my readers are warned. The story and general script wasn’t too bad but if I were to give some advice it would be to not use as much of the magical and fantasy elements because it costs far too much and was the worst parts of the film. The battles and action was pretty great and had fun with all the samurai action, less so when they fought magic stuff. The visuals where strong and whilst I think the film could have done without the magic elements they didn’t skimp on the CGI. This cost way too much to make. I’ll go into much more detail below and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past (Trailer #1) Review
Before I start reviewing the trailer I want to say that I know the story arc and how mad it gets, and I was pretty sure Bryan Singer couldn’t handle it. Looking at the trailer I now know he cannot handle it, but he can strip it of most of its parts and drop a steaming pile on a brilliant adaptation opportunity. At this point I wouldn’t even watch this film, hope they show a better trailer or make a better movie. There are some good points to the trailer and I will give my views on both sides of the coin but I have a great deal of disappointment with the way the film looks so far. I really hope come next year that I will eat my own words but it would have to be a different film then advertised. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“I don’t want your suffering, I don’t want your future!”
Machete Kills (2013) Review
The first film was in that category of its cheesy and totally grindhouse mad and whilst both of those apply to this there is also a lot WHAT?! Going on that makes this more of an “it’s so bad its good” category which is fine as well if you are in the mood for it. I still had a really good laugh watching it and if you have friends who don’t mind the first film then you will have a ball! This is going to be a short review because the only way I can really describe this film is how I’d say never to make a film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Machete don’t tweet.” Loves him some helicopter kills though!
Pain & Gain (2013) Review
Yep, that’s right feel the burn. Yet again a film with a great trailer, but the film doesn’t measure up. I found the film agonizing to watch sometimes and too quick the rest of the time. The film was too much serious and talk and not enough funny and action. Those are words I never thought I would say about a Michael Bay film, and boy was this a Michael Bay film! Don’t get me wrong this film is funny but it’s a hard watch and I don’t plan on seeing it again, took me 2 nights to finish watching the film. Dwayne Johnson was the best part of this film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“We snatch him, we grab him, signs a few signature, we give him a protein shake! He dunnit even know what happened! I watched a lot of movies Paul, I know what I’m doing!”
Box Office Predictions (23-25th Aug)
The Mortal Instruments, You’re Next, The Worlds End and Blue Jasmine…four wide releases again! As we go into the fall season the films coming out will become less known and as such will not bring in the same business but they will be interesting because they can maintain better numbers over a longer period. I am interested in seeing how The World’s End does in the US. Go watch some movies!
No One Lives (2012) Review
This horror film is terrible but also a lot of fun! No One Lives nearly delivers on its name as well in that 90% of the people in the film die, which is a nice change of pace from the last couple of horror films I saw with zero fatalities. The premise behind this film is great, love the idea and I would like a really well done version but this is pure entertaining horror so am fine with it. The acting is mostly terrible but Luke Evans clearly had a blast. The violence is way up there and the dialogue sometime funny both intentionally and unintentional had me in stitches. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, I look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts. There will be spoilers.
