Chappie (Trailer #2) Review

FIRST TRAILER REVIEW OF 2015! I wasn’t really into the first trailer because it seemed to show pretty generic stuff for a first trailer and am a bit sore from Elysium (So disappointing) so I didn’t review it. Also no time. This I liked though, the idea of AI is fascinating and it’s always a good sci fi concept. The idea of replacing police with robots is giving me very vivid RoboCop flash backs. But I’ll wait and see. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

The Guest (2014) Mini Review

Here comes my mini review, much easier doing these. The Guest is currently out on VOD, it’s a really good 80’s thriller film but was made this year, and I love it. Adam Wingard the director of this film is definitely on a roll. I am two for two on his films. You’re Next and now this little gem. I will be looking out for your future films.

I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.

10 Most Anticipated Films of 2015

This is my list of the most anticipated films released in the year 2015, wow this year, crept up quick. I have a skewed view towards the genres of Sci-fi and Action, so don’t expect indie or drama, I will watch them but at the moment I just don’t care. If you notice any films that you want to see more than anything then this could mean one of two things, either I disagree or I simply forgot it was coming out. If so I would love to know if I am missing any. Also there will be a box office prediction for each film; you guys know how much I like predictions. Upcoming reviews are all 2014 film, first The Guest then The Interview, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Nightcrawler and The Babadook. Also still need to see The Hobbit Battle of The Five Armies and Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part 1.

Interstellar (2014) Review

I really liked this film, probably my favourite science fiction film in years. The concept was dark but surprisingly humanist from a director like Nolan. The visuals are great, the split between practical effects and CGI are really well done, and IMAX is a must. Then we have the cast, who are great performers, have some excellent dialogue and emotional scenes, but I am not sure about the chemistry. I was worried about this film beforehand and even thought this might be Nolan’s first flop, boy am glad I was wrong.

I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Interstellar (Final Trailer) Review

I haven’t reviewed any trailers for this film because they don’t really show anything to talk about, and they all looked pretty much the same, McConaughey crying, corn fields and Christopher Nolan’s name in massive bold letters. But this trailer looks pretty cool, got plenty to look at without spoiling anything. The visuals and style of the film looks like it is Nolan in space which is what we all wanted from the film, acting looks solid, and we should be seeing plenty of SCI-FI shenanigans. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

Wer (2014) Mini Review

Here comes another mini review, this time an indie horror film is in my target, also related to werewolves. The film is currently out on VOD, it’s a kind of found footage horror film. But it does have a lot of none found footage scenes. On a none review topic boy does that werewolf guy look like Sébastien Chabal or as he’s nicknamed ‘The Cave Man’ in French Rugby.

I’ll go into much more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.

Wolf Children (2013) & The Garden of Words (2013) Mini Review

This week am going to start writing mini reviews for indie/drama films because one I don’t have all the time in the world to write my normal 1000+ word reviews and two because I tend to struggle writing reviews for indie films. That being said I probably could go on a while about these two because they are two excellent animated films from Japan. I know most of my readers probably don’t see all that many anime films or anything foreign or subtitled. So with that in mind I have picked two that are in English language (Excellent Dubs).

I’ll go into much more detail below but please give them a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.

Have You Ever Liked a Film in a Genre You Normally Hate?

Another random question that popped into my mind recently as I watched a film I’ll being reviewing this week. Now I find that if a friend or family member makes me watch something because they believe it to be excellent that I will give it a go eventually, against my natural pessimistic view of genres I normally avoid (If you don’t remember genres I don’t like click here). If I do like it more likely than not it is a film so excellent that it transcends all genres. A rarity but I absolutely love it when I find one. So I ask the question Have You Ever Liked a Film in a Genre You Normally Hate? Mine is after the break.

Summer Box Office 2014 Results

Am Back! And you didn’t even know I left. Sorry for being away from the blog for a while and I may have also neglected some of the blogs I follow. Sorry about that. However I just realised I forgot to review Guardians of the Galaxy and as a result also haven’t read anyone’s reviews. However they are all bookmarked so when my review is out expect some comments.

So to this post, who won the box office this summer, the time of the blockbuster! Some upsets, some shockers and some we easily predicted. Read the rest of the post after the break and leave me a comment.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) Review

Just saw Apes last night and yes I know it’s late but wow was this film worth the wait. Never thought Apes of horses would be my favourite film of the year but that’s where we are, got to love the movies! The acting is solid, the script plays with the plot brilliantly, you like and route for the characters both ape and human, the action is fast paced and visuals are unbelievable, those apes are 100% CGI. What really sets this film apart from the majority of films is the unrelentingly serious nature they apply to the material. The story explores so many aspects to human nature that its just fascinating to think about. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
