Interstellar (Final Trailer) Review

I haven’t reviewed any trailers for this film because they don’t really show anything to talk about, and they all looked pretty much the same, McConaughey crying, corn fields and Christopher Nolan’s name in massive bold letters. But this trailer looks pretty cool, got plenty to look at without spoiling anything. The visuals and style of the film looks like it is Nolan in space which is what we all wanted from the film, acting looks solid, and we should be seeing plenty of SCI-FI shenanigans. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

“Well we got this far. Farther than any human in history”

“Not far enough!”

Wer (2014) Mini Review

Here comes another mini review, this time an indie horror film is in my target, also related to werewolves. The film is currently out on VOD, it’s a kind of found footage horror film. But it does have a lot of none found footage scenes. On a none review topic boy does that werewolf guy look like Sébastien Chabal or as he’s nicknamed ‘The Cave Man’ in French Rugby.

I’ll go into much more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) Review

Just saw Apes last night and yes I know it’s late but wow was this film worth the wait. Never thought Apes of horses would be my favourite film of the year but that’s where we are, got to love the movies! The acting is solid, the script plays with the plot brilliantly, you like and route for the characters both ape and human, the action is fast paced and visuals are unbelievable, those apes are 100% CGI. What really sets this film apart from the majority of films is the unrelentingly serious nature they apply to the material. The story explores so many aspects to human nature that its just fascinating to think about. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Into The Storm (Trailer #1) Review

I didn’t really care for the first teaser trailer and so I kind of ignored the film in general, however this full length trailer looks pretty good. Could be a new Twister if they play their cards right. The cast is impressive and they look serious about the film is great. The visuals and style of the film looks like it works, still not sure about the found footage aspect but we’ll see. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

Most Anticipated Horror Films Of Summer 2014

This is my list of the most anticipated horror films released or to be released in the summer of 2014. This one may come a bit late because it is already June by now. However most on the list may be difficult to watch at first and so this list could still be used to advice you on what good horror films are coming out. I will warn you that I have come to hate haunted house films so don’t expect any on this list. Oh and horror films have very sporadic release dates so I will just be sticking to US release dates.

Update on the voting posts. I have finished the first two ‘The Good Points To Films I Hate’ and ‘A Comic Nerdy Opinion Post’ this is obviously done as well and the next two ‘A New Top Ten List’ and ‘Some Kind of Anime Post’ will be finished over the next two weeks.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Trailer #2) Review

I know this review is a bit late but this had to be reviewed because it looks amazing. I didn’t review the first trailer because I viewed it more as a teaser, this however is the real deal. Wow I mean who thought an apes film could be made this seriously, I mean this looks brilliant. Andy Serkis is bringing Ceaser to life and giving him real presence. The cast looks strong and the plot sounds fascinating. The themes and music also impress me. I cannot wait for this film, its easily one of my most anticipated of the year. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

Summer Box Office 2014

Plenty of my readers know that I love a good box office prediction, and so what’s better than to predict who will win the most tightly contested season the summer, well nothing really. 2014 has a very mixed summer filled with all kinds of films; this will mean very different numbers and makes predicting them quite difficult. Normally it’s easy to see how well a sequel will make but this summer we have 3 franchises alone that have been rebooted and in their own right having sequels. That being said below is my 10 favourites to win the summer box office, not which I think will be good or that I want to win just that they will bring in the green (or whatever colour money is in your respective countries). Think I am wrong or just want to join in? Then post your 10 favourites to win in the comments section below.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Review

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a very different product than Marvel is used to making and whilst it’s still a safe film for all its nice to see Marvel trying new themes, this time it was espionage. This was a really well made film and I have very few to no complaints however taking on a spy thriller means it will get compared to a higher class of films. The story takes you much deeper into SHIELD and into how it all works for better or worse. The visuals are great and apart from a bombastic finale the majority of the film relies on practical effects, and I always like a mix of the two. The new Directors (Anthony Russo & Joe Russo) have done a wonderful job of creating a sequel, blending past events naturally with the current story and just making it work. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Captain: “That’s hilarious.”

The Maze Runner (Trailer #1) Review

This to my great surprise looks really good! I remember some vague talk of this film but this looks really good, I won’t to see it now. As an example of my high opinion I bumped my already late ‘Lego Movie review’ to my Friday slot because I wanted this review out as close to its trailer release as possible. It feels an awful lot like Attack on Titan plus lord of the flies, and wow that is one nutty combo and I like it. The cloths, the walls, the colour scheme, they all link back to a live action version of Attack on Titan, the more I watch it the more I see it. As for lord of the flies it’s pretty obvious, the group of boys (teens), their rituals and the isolation from society. It’s a male oriented tween film as well which is something new to try out on the big screen. The film also boasts a fantastic group of young actors, all very talented which is nice to see and quite rare in these ‘tween’ films. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
