22 Jump Street (2014) Review

It’s really funny, easily on par with the first and the cast work perfectly with each other. It’s hard to pin point why these two films just work so well but this comedy sequel works because it is so ridiculously self-aware, there near a million references to the fact that this is a sequel. The visuals in this are great; all the side characters are on top form. And the film just has so many laugh out loud moments that you need to probably see a few times to get them all. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, if you have seen the film then just read because there are no spoilers in my comedy reviews.

Box Office Predictions (21-23rd June) Results

Wow I was so off this week, my predictions were terrible. However it’s been a great weekend for the studios, cinema profits in decline my ass. Monsters University took the weekend with a stellar taking over the weekend. However Pixar’s take wasn’t shocking at all, what was shocking is Brad Pitts War on Zombies which took an unbelievable second place. Man of Steel failed to fly above the new comers but hardly bombed with a respectable take in third place. Go watch some movies and let’s look at the breakdowns.

World War Z (2013) Review

World War Z is nothing special but it’s alright and whilst I won’t be seeing it again I don’t regret seeing it today. The story is the weakest part but the characters and acting was pretty good, some moments even made me laugh, sadly this was not on purpose and I nearly cried of laughter. Some warnings going into this film are that this isn’t a horror film nor is it an outbreak film, it feels more like an action thriller that happens to feature Zombie esq people (They shouldn’t run or climb). Anyway this review will not be a happy ordeal and I plan to put a few spoilers around the place so watch out for them.

Box Office Predictions (21-23rd June)

Another week of new releases and these won’t be any easier, let’s hope I get lucky and make some good predictions. This weekend we have two releases, first is Monsters University a highly anticipated sequel and second is World War Z a new Zombie film starring Brad Pitt. But we also have Man of Steel fighting to keep his high flying position at number one. Will Pixar take the win? Will World War Z shock us all or will Man of Steel keep the high ground? Go watch some movies and let’s look at the breakdowns.

World War Z (Trailer #1) Review

It’s a big budget zombie apocalypse film so regardless of how the trailer goes I am going to be in a cinema watching this. The trailer starts off pretty good with a nice little family in the car and all that then all hell breaks loose on the streets. However it uses every action trailer does now which is the Inception BWOOOOONNNGG, seriously stop using that noise on every trailer. Carrying on, the next few flashing shots show the global effects of the zombies and that this is very wide spread, well so I am with the film so far. Then about one minute and 19 seconds into the trailer you see the zombies and well it’s not good, when I say not good I actually mean awful. At some point in the production of this film one of production team said to the other “how much CGI should we use” and gets a reply “All of it, all of the CGI”. I just can’t believe the sprinting hoard of CGI zombies that somebody being paid too much said was okay got into this film.

The Best of Bruce Willis

Since the ‘Expendables 2’ is coming out next month I thought it would be fun to do ‘the best of’ for the three biggest action stars, done Schwarzenegger a while ago and will link that below, this is obviously Willis’s best films and next week I will be doing Stallone’s best films. Just to point out that although films like ‘Pulp Fiction’ are excellent Willis was not the main character so will not be on the list. But that won’t hold back Bruce because he has done some great films mainly action but also some great Sci-Fi which makes me a fan.
