Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) Mini Review
Balls to the wall high octane edge of your seat relentless action death racing in a post-apocalyptic waste land. Well done George Miller. Not sure how you achieved this glorious level of action at 70 years of age or after directing three cheesy kids films. Glad you did though because this might be my favourite action film for at least 5 years. If it was done in this film it was done with perfection. I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
“As the world fell, each of us in our own way was broken. It was hard to know who was more crazy. Me… or everyone else.”
Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015) Mini Review
The first half of this film is great but the second half really lets it down. What I am struggling with is whether it is that Age of Ultron is a good but flawed film or that in comparison to Marvels other recent films (Cap 2, Guardians) it just doesn’t match their quality. Ultron was a good villain, if an underused one. The avengers where handled well for the most part, hawk eye was especially well done. I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.
“I was designed to save the world. People would look to the sky and see… hope. I think I’ll take that first.”
Chappie (2015) Mini Review
I was extremely critical of Blomkampf after Elysium, and no less so in preparation for this film. However I actually really liked it. He has redeemed himself in part to me anyway. Chappie has a message or two that really work. It’s not about the danger of AI, it’s about how dangerous humanity can be when faced with change. Or how innocence can be corrupted? Its got like five messages floating round. Just pick one and go with it.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Mini Review
This was fun, I really like watching Wes Anderson films because they take you to another world. He does that with all his films. The Grand Budapest Hotel should be out on DVD and VOD at the moment, it’s a fantastically quirky story about the hotels devoted concierge and his young apprentice lobby boy. The film is really fun and the all-star cast is stellar especially Ralph Fiennes, well done that man.

22 Jump Street (2014) Review
It’s really funny, easily on par with the first and the cast work perfectly with each other. It’s hard to pin point why these two films just work so well but this comedy sequel works because it is so ridiculously self-aware, there near a million references to the fact that this is a sequel. The visuals in this are great; all the side characters are on top form. And the film just has so many laugh out loud moments that you need to probably see a few times to get them all. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, if you have seen the film then just read because there are no spoilers in my comedy reviews.

The LEGO Movie (2014) Review
This has taken far too long to review but here we are. I really liked this film and when I first heard of it I didn’t care, love a pleasant surprise. Its action packed, funny, got a great voice cast, and the story is quite touching, very much to my surprise. The visuals in this are great, I really thought the mix of Stop-motion and CGI was very impressive; I was often unable to see the difference in the film. The characters are either really funny or are great character parodies. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“I know what you’re thinking, he’s the least qualified person to lead us…and you’re right!”
The Kings of Summer (2013) Review
Coming of age films are relatively rare but they’re as good as they are rare. Something about weird kids running away to build a house in a forest screams funny quirky indie film, that’s exactly what this is and it doesn’t disappoint. The Kings of Summer is a great and quirky coming-of-age indie movie full of charm and strong performances. Nick Robinson and Nick Offerman play a great father and son duo and hit big laughs and deep feels multiple times. The film is very funny but also has real drama to its story and the actors involved will surprise you in their talent. Equal parts comedy and drama it’s a really good ride, I hope you all get a chance to see it. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Yes, I experienced a childhood on the planet Earth. I’ve heard the story of the boy who cried wolf.”
Machete Kills (Red Band Trailer #2) Review
Now that’s more like it. I didn’t like the first one because it was a bit dull and boring. But with this you get action, laughs, terrible CGI and lots of sexy ladies. I think with a film like this you need a good red band because otherwise you are restraining 90% of the film from the trailer. This reminds me a lot more of the grindhouse trailer for the first one, even the voice over guy. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer.
Pain & Gain (2013) Review
Yep, that’s right feel the burn. Yet again a film with a great trailer, but the film doesn’t measure up. I found the film agonizing to watch sometimes and too quick the rest of the time. The film was too much serious and talk and not enough funny and action. Those are words I never thought I would say about a Michael Bay film, and boy was this a Michael Bay film! Don’t get me wrong this film is funny but it’s a hard watch and I don’t plan on seeing it again, took me 2 nights to finish watching the film. Dwayne Johnson was the best part of this film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“We snatch him, we grab him, signs a few signature, we give him a protein shake! He dunnit even know what happened! I watched a lot of movies Paul, I know what I’m doing!”
The World’s End (2013) Review
I loved what Wright did in the first two films. Shaun of the Dead was a brilliant riff on zombie films and Hot Fuzz was the same with buddy cop films, and all I wanted was the same treatment for an alien invasion. Sadly though I think they missed the mark massively and I found this film very disappointing, sadly Wright’s worst film to date. The film as a comedy was weak and barely had any laughs in comparison to their previous work. The story was equally weak and had near to no coherency; rapidly shooting from boring slap stick fights to heart felt back stories and breakdowns. I have a lot more complaints but when it comes down to it the films a comedy that isn’t funny. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
