Thor: The Dark World (2013) Review
Thor: The Dark World is one of the most fun and entertaining Marvel films I have seen, from the fascinating story to the side splitting humour to the amazing visuals. This was a really well made film and I have very few to no complaints. The story takes you to so many more places than previous films and expands on the universe created. The visuals are a great improvement on the first Thor film with less plastic and more leather and metal, Thor’s universe seems real. The new Director (Alan Taylor) has done a wonderful job of creating a sequel, blending past events naturally with the current story and just making it so damn fun. The film is really an action adventure film which is what this character really needs to work on the big screen. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Some believe that before the universe, there was nothing. They’re wrong. There was darkness and it has survived.”
X-Men: Days Of Future Past (Trailer #1) Review
Before I start reviewing the trailer I want to say that I know the story arc and how mad it gets, and I was pretty sure Bryan Singer couldn’t handle it. Looking at the trailer I now know he cannot handle it, but he can strip it of most of its parts and drop a steaming pile on a brilliant adaptation opportunity. At this point I wouldn’t even watch this film, hope they show a better trailer or make a better movie. There are some good points to the trailer and I will give my views on both sides of the coin but I have a great deal of disappointment with the way the film looks so far. I really hope come next year that I will eat my own words but it would have to be a different film then advertised. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
“I don’t want your suffering, I don’t want your future!”
Captain America The Winter Soldier (Trailer #1) Review
I didn’t really have any thoughts on this film until now. I liked the first film but it wasn’t anything special and the sequel sounded interesting especially with that title (that’s right I read comics) Bucky! Gone to the dark side (sad face). But wow this trailer makes the film look great and I don’t really know that much more than I did before the trailer, which is good (few spoilers). The scope of the film looks pretty massive and after the Avengers that is really needed, whether this scale will help or hinder is too hard to tell but me like. Also listen out for that music because I think its part of the films score and its pretty good, its different than most of the marvel cinematic scores. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer.
“I thought the punishment usually came after the crime” – Politically charged words from Captain America!
Iron Man 3 (2013) Review
Iron Man 3 the first of this summer’s superhero films was very good but not the best. The story is strong and draws this strength from a brilliant comic arc which is one of my favourites called Extremis, it did take some liberties. The acting was great benefiting from some fantastic new additions to the cast, Pierce, Kingsley. Good dialogue but I expect something juicy to quote from, like a villain (Complaints for this are in spoiler section) or Hero. As a superhero film something was just off, still very good but some themes just didn’t work for me. The visuals are amazing and will in no way disappoint, the new extremis armour is great and you get to see a lot of interesting tech and powers. Bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“Do you want an empty life or a meaningful death?”
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Review
It has a few flaws, but for a first installment of the rebooted Spiderman franchise it is better than any of the original films, especially Spiderman 3! The characters especially where far better this time around with Andrew showing Toby how to play Peter Parker. I will be looking forward to the next films in this great new Spiderman reboot. But I would love to see flaws I found fixed, they are so small though that a sequel would be able to see and fix them.
