Fantastic Four (Trailer #1) Review
Well, well, well, look who’s come out to play. About time they showed something. Had no pictures, no footage, not even any official concept art. If I wasn’t such a massive nerd I wouldn’t even know this was coming out. Anyway it’s here now so let’s review. The film is definitely a far more serious affair than its predecessor, that can’t be a bad thing. The first half of this trailer is Interstellar, shockingly so. The cast looks good, visuals look okay but too little footage to really judge. Hated that voice over! So generic, could have been for anything. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
Interstellar (2014) Review
I really liked this film, probably my favourite science fiction film in years. The concept was dark but surprisingly humanist from a director like Nolan. The visuals are great, the split between practical effects and CGI are really well done, and IMAX is a must. Then we have the cast, who are great performers, have some excellent dialogue and emotional scenes, but I am not sure about the chemistry. I was worried about this film beforehand and even thought this might be Nolan’s first flop, boy am glad I was wrong.

“Our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.”
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Review
Guardians of the Galaxy might be my favourite film of the year, seen it three times. Marvel has had a brilliant year with creating new genres within the comic book genre. Easily the funniest superhero film ever made but not in a really cheesy way like Thor 2, it was genuinely funny, it was a James Gunn film through and through. The visuals are great, the split between practical effects and CGI are really well done, and the sheer amount of aliens created visually in the film brings you back to star wars. Then we have the cast who are a perfect group for this action adventure film in space, you get them, you’re with them. Well done James knew you could do it.

Drax: “Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are excellent and I would catch it.”
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) Review
Just saw Apes last night and yes I know it’s late but wow was this film worth the wait. Never thought Apes of horses would be my favourite film of the year but that’s where we are, got to love the movies! The acting is solid, the script plays with the plot brilliantly, you like and route for the characters both ape and human, the action is fast paced and visuals are unbelievable, those apes are 100% CGI. What really sets this film apart from the majority of films is the unrelentingly serious nature they apply to the material. The story explores so many aspects to human nature that its just fascinating to think about. Edge of Tomorrow (2014) Review (Or as I prefer ‘All You Need Is Kill’)
Edge of Tomorrow is believe it or not an original, funny and great science fiction film. The acting is solid, the script plays with the plot brilliantly, you like and route for the characters, the action is fast paced and visuals are almost flawless. Wasn’t expecting this to be one of my favourite films of the year but so far it’s up there. Don’t trust the trailers or that new terrible title, just go out and see the film it is really good. If you ever thought what would a hybrid film made from Groundhog Day and Aliens be like? And thought yeah I’d watch that then this is for you. It’s even got Bill Paxon. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) Review
X-Men Days of Future Past is certainly one of the better X-Men films although to me it’s not the best. The acting and style of the 70’s timeline was excellent. The human (or mutant) element was strong throughout the film especially between Xavier and Erik which is a necessity for an X-Men franchise. The story was fresh and benefitted from adapting a brilliant comic story arc, and even if the film didn’t quite live up to that story it still had a deeper concept at its core. The visuals are great and from the mutant powers to the near costume drama set up by the 70’s timeline. Bryan Singer went back into his franchise with ease and whilst I still think Mathew Vaughn’s interpretation of the franchise was better this was still a fine X-Men film. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Trailer #2) Review
I know this review is a bit late but this had to be reviewed because it looks amazing. I didn’t review the first trailer because I viewed it more as a teaser, this however is the real deal. Wow I mean who thought an apes film could be made this seriously, I mean this looks brilliant. Andy Serkis is bringing Ceaser to life and giving him real presence. The cast looks strong and the plot sounds fascinating. The themes and music also impress me. I cannot wait for this film, its easily one of my most anticipated of the year. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.
