22 Jump Street (2014) Review

It’s really funny, easily on par with the first and the cast work perfectly with each other. It’s hard to pin point why these two films just work so well but this comedy sequel works because it is so ridiculously self-aware, there near a million references to the fact that this is a sequel. The visuals in this are great; all the side characters are on top form. And the film just has so many laugh out loud moments that you need to probably see a few times to get them all. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, if you have seen the film then just read because there are no spoilers in my comedy reviews.

Dickson: “We Jump Street, and we about to jump in your ass”

Schmidt: “Right in the crack”

This is the End (2013) Review

I had no real anticipation going into this film, the trailer was alright and whilst the reviews where mostly good I still didn’t feel it was for me. I couldn’t have been more wrong, this film was truly hysterical and I am not sure if it was the lack of good comedy films this year or that my expectations were particularly low but I loved. I couldn’t believe how funny this film was and how much I laughed. The cast were great, the visuals weren’t bad, the dialogue and humour is right on the money, and even the story moved along really well. I would recommend this film to anyone who liked Pineapple Express and Superbad. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.

Jay Baruchel:   The power of Christ compels you.
Jonah Hill:   Does it Jay?
Jay Baruchel:   The power of Christ compels you!
Jonah Hill:   Is the power of Christ compelling me Jay?  Guess what?  It’s not that compelling.

Box Office Predictions (14-16th June) Results

Second week of predictions and the results are a little more in my ballpark. I even had more readers comment on the prediction and a few made their own, but who was closer? Well if you continue to the rest of this post you’ll find out. I know everyone is fixed on knowing the big releases scores this weekend but we can’t forget about the returning films of which one showed some shocking results. I also want to thank everyone for the likes and comments on my review of Man of Steel, of which beat my previous comment record with over 90 comments.

Box Office Predictions (14-16th June)

Second week of predictions isn’t going to be any easier with two wide releases which to say the least are wild cards. To be honest I like them that way because it’s more fun with making the predictions. I don’t see any returning films making a challenge to the new comers but you never know. One way or another this weekend should be fun to watch both in the cinema and on the figures. MAN OF STEEL!!! Go Watch it now!

The Watch (2012) Review

The watch felt like somebody put a group of comedians into a room and told them to make jokes about an alien invasion, worst thing about this film is its non-existent direction by anybody behind the cameras. Nevertheless it’s funny at times because the people they picked are generally funny comedians so it’s hard not to at least smile at them being uncontrolled. It’s pretty bad as a movie but it does make you occasionally laugh so I putting this in the average list of films. I wouldn’t tell anybody to see but I also wouldn’t scream no! If they said they wanted to see it.

Top Ten Kids Films of 2000-2010 Part 2

Were back to the top ten’s and this could be the last of 2000-2010, so let me make it a good one. Kid’s films, mainly animations which let’s face it are the best. So many films missed the cut off date, for example A Bug’s Life (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Iron Giant (1999) and Toy Story 2 (1999). Good year for kids films, but I am unwilling to change the almighty rules of the top ten. For I have spoken my gibberish!  Ok so if you didn’t see the part 1 go do that and vote for favorite film from part 1, then in part 2 which you are reading now do the same, then after a while I will post the results.

The Top Ten Comedies Part 1&2 Polls closed

Now just to state that originally I had a list of 38 comedy films and then had to cut it down to just 10 films, so I know people will be asking why their favourite film isn’t on here and believe me it was hard to cut 28 of my favourite comedy films off the list. But the films on the list are the best of the best and deserve your laughs.

You can check out part 1 here and part 2 here.

Votes have now closed and the winners are revealed below:
