Box Office Predictions (28-30th June) Results
I was so close this weekend, most of my predictions where pretty close but no White House Down had to crash and burn and throw off my numbers. My numbers were off by $25.2M over the top ten. But other than WHD the new releases did well and all returning films did some good numbers. So other than WHD the films this weekend did as expected. Go watch some movies and let’s look at the breakdowns.
Box Office Predictions (28-30th June)
We got some interesting films coming out this weekend and a lot of heavy hitters returning from last weekend. The two new releases, first is The Heat a comedy film from the director of Bridesmaids and big comedy draws Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, and the second release is White House Down directed by Emmerich and staring Fox, Tatum and Woods but it isn’t looking healthy. The returning film World War Z and Monsters University should take decent positions this weekend with MU narrowly keeping its top spot. Can I redeem myself from my awful predictions last weekend? Well there’s only one way to find out, read this prediction post and they the results on Monday and go watch some movies, now to the breakdowns. Also Rorschach Reviews will be doing a similar feature so I have some more competitions.
Box Office Predictions (21-23rd June) Results
Wow I was so off this week, my predictions were terrible. However it’s been a great weekend for the studios, cinema profits in decline my ass. Monsters University took the weekend with a stellar taking over the weekend. However Pixar’s take wasn’t shocking at all, what was shocking is Brad Pitts War on Zombies which took an unbelievable second place. Man of Steel failed to fly above the new comers but hardly bombed with a respectable take in third place. Go watch some movies and let’s look at the breakdowns.
Box Office Predictions (21-23rd June)
Another week of new releases and these won’t be any easier, let’s hope I get lucky and make some good predictions. This weekend we have two releases, first is Monsters University a highly anticipated sequel and second is World War Z a new Zombie film starring Brad Pitt. But we also have Man of Steel fighting to keep his high flying position at number one. Will Pixar take the win? Will World War Z shock us all or will Man of Steel keep the high ground? Go watch some movies and let’s look at the breakdowns.
Man of Steel (2013) Review
Man of Steel has a Zack Snyder look and feel with a Goyer/Nolan story, and if that is something that appeals to you then Man of Steel is your film. Somehow the team behind this film have made superman both more down to earth than any superman film before whilst also making him far more powerful and raw as a superhero. The visuals are just unbelievable and I’ll devote a paragraph to discussing that, the acting is good and General Zod is just wow. I have heard complaints that the film couldn’t decide between a science fiction film and a superhero film but to be honest that’s idiotic, the two blend perfectly and they did it in such a realistic way I am surprised it hasn’t been done before. I’ll go into much more detail below but for now bookmark this if you are waiting to see the film, leave any comments below, if you have seen the film then check out the spoiler sections and I will look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts.
“My name is General Zod. I have journeyed across an ocean of stars to reach you. Your world has sheltered one of my citizens. He will look like you, but he is not one of you. To those of you who know his location, the fate of your planet rests in your hands. To Kal-El, I say this: Surrender within 24 hours, or watch this world suffer the consequences.”
