Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015) Mini Review

The first half of this film is great but the second half really lets it down. What I am struggling with is whether it is that Age of Ultron is a good but flawed film or that in comparison to Marvels other recent films (Cap 2, Guardians) it just doesn’t match their quality. Ultron was a good villain, if an underused one. The avengers where handled well for the most part, hawk eye was especially well done. I’ll go into more detail below but give it a try, got trailers and images below. Check it all out and give me a like and a comment at the end.

“I was designed to save the world. People would look to the sky and see… hope. I think I’ll take that first.”

Box Office Predictions (7-9th June) Results

Well my new feature seems to be doing well, got a lot of likes and comments so I am happy. My actual predictions however could have been better but overall I was surprisingly close on the numbers. The Purge through me off this weekend with stellar numbers and The Internship very much like the film itself disappointed. So check out the final results this weekend and I’ll be back on Friday for the most anticipated release of Man of Steel.

Box Office Predictions (7-9th June)

This is a new feature I am thinking of implementing each week. I know a lot of my followers are stat addicts and being a movie blog I tend to keep an eye on box office figures. The figures can be very important to films, not only for studios but for viewers who want a sequel or to avoid one and if you just want to know your favourite film is doing well. Hopefully good films making money will be a new trend. I’d appreciate any feedback as I am trying it out before the big weekend of Man of Steel’s release.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (Mini Series) Review

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a 2008 musical tragicomedy miniseries in three acts, directed by Joss Whedon and produced exclusively for Internet distribution. The musical is really quite good and I liked the story as well, not much of a musical loving guy but I don’t mind the odd one that I appreciate and a comedic take on super villains can’t really be missed. The series came out over 4 years ago but I only saw it recently and so I will not be presenting many spoilers and any I am will have a bold warning. The visuals weren’t that bad considering the lack of any real budget and that nobody got paid for this until about a year after it was made. I found the cast to be fantastic and got the comedic take on the superheroes and villains rather well, so I will say well done to Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and Simon Helberg. I am a fan of their work and as they did this for free I am happy they have all gone unto other successful projects.

The Avengers (2012) Re-Review

This Re-Review is because of The Avengers coming out soon on DVD, so get a copy and enjoy. Joss Whedon you beautiful man you. Well he has done what many thought would be impossible creating a film with six superheroes without it being a total mess. The film is not only not bad but in my opinion pretty damn perfect. By perfect I mean I honestly don’t have any complaints, no stupid stuff, no boring scenes, it’s just a great action film. Marvel Studios presents Marvel’s The Avengers-the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow.

The Cabin in the Woods (2012) Re-Review

Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. If you think you know this story, think again. From fan favorites Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard comes The Cabin in the Woods, a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out. That’s the description released by Lionsgate, so does it live up to its hype? Yes, yes it does.

Best Films of 2012 – Part 1

It’s one of my amazing special posts, yay! (Nobody really cares, just look at the pretty pictures). Friday I will be posting a ‘Best of Christopher Nolan’ because of the Dark Knight Rises release.

Ok so we are now into the 7th month of the year so I thought I would put my favourite films of the year into monthly winners for the first half of 2012. Obviously part 2 won’t be coming out until January next year so keep an eye out for that when I will also reveal my winner of the year in genre categories (nobody really cares, just look at the pretty posters). Each winner is only put in a mini review but has been linked to the full reviews if you want to read more.

From fan favorites Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard comes The Cabin in the Woods, a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out. That’s the description released by Lionsgate, so does it it live up to its hype? Well I went to see the cabin in the woods recently and so I can safely state that yes it certainly does and I give it my recommendation for people to get to the cinema and watch that film as soon as possible.
