Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Review

Watching this film might be the most disappointed I have ever been in a Cinema. I have been waiting years for this film. Hyped right from the start and only built since then. So yeah this was a really, really bad film. The story was to say the least convoluted and stuffed with 6 films worth of concepts which just made it messy. The acting was either bad or they were given nothing to work with, and don’t get me started on the dialogue. Boo, just BOOO!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Comic-Con Trailer #1) Review

YES!!! Holy crap batman we have gosh darn trailer! I am exceedingly excited for this film. I get what the film is now and the characters within it, but it didn’t show anything of any real consequence (no spoilers). The dialogue is fascinating and already from the trailer an improvement over the last film. The score sounds fantastic and truly epic! The action and effects look spectacular, and I cannot wait to dive into more detail so enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

San Andreas (2015) Mini Review

Genuinely liked this more than I’d thought I would. Lot of action, great visuals and Dwayne was on point leading this film, come a long way since Scorpion King. The film had endless clichés but it didn’t enrage me as much as it normally does, my reasoning will be explained later. It has been a while since I’ve seen a good disaster film and this was good. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) Mini Review

Balls to the wall high octane edge of your seat relentless action death racing in a post-apocalyptic waste land. Well done George Miller. Not sure how you achieved this glorious level of action at 70 years of age or after directing three cheesy kids films. Glad you did though because this might be my favourite action film for at least 5 years. If it was done in this film it was done with perfection. Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015) Mini Review

The first half of this film is great but the second half really lets it down. What I am struggling with is whether it is that Age of Ultron is a good but flawed film or that in comparison to Marvels other recent films (Cap 2, Guardians) it just doesn’t match their quality. Ultron was a good villain, if an underused one. The avengers where handled well for the most part, hawk eye was especially well done. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Teaser #1) Review

So are teasers just trailers that leave you more puzzled than when you started? Yes Tim, yes they are. About time they showed something. Wait, no still 11 months away. Why are they showing this? In no way am I complaining this was a very welcomed treat. My excitement for this film has ticked up which is impressive because I was already frothing from the mouth with excitement (Maybe a little rabies). The film is clearly influenced by the events of Man of steel and I want to see how this will be weaved into The Dark Knight Returns story that is clearly the basis for this films plot. Loved the clippings of voices describing the differing viewpoints of this “hero”. Enjoy the review and please tell me your initial reactions to this new trailer, more so if you disagree.

Chappie (2015) Mini Review

I was extremely critical of Blomkampf after Elysium, and no less so in preparation for this film. However I actually really liked it. He has redeemed himself in part to me anyway. Chappie has a message or two that really work. It’s not about the danger of AI, it’s about how dangerous humanity can be when faced with change. Or how innocence can be corrupted? Its got like five messages floating round. Just pick one and go with it.

Fantastic Four (Trailer #1) Review

Well, well, well, look who’s come out to play. About time they showed something. Had no pictures, no footage, not even any official concept art. If I wasn’t such a massive nerd I wouldn’t even know this was coming out. Anyway it’s here now so let’s review. The film is definitely a far more serious affair than its predecessor, that can’t be a bad thing. The first half of this trailer is Interstellar, shockingly so. The cast looks good, visuals look okay but too little footage to really judge. Hated that voice over! So generic, could have been for anything. John Wick (2014) Mini Review

John Wick won’t be winning any awards anytime soon but it is a lot fun in 100 mins. Should be on DVD in most places so check it out. Kick ass action. Good visuals. And Keanu Reeves does a lot and says very little, just how I like him. Keep it up Keanu.

Taken 3 (2015) Mini Review

First review of 2015!!! Tak3n haha that title. Ah January a time of year where good films do not tread. Taken 3 is awful. It’s really, really bad. Serious stinking mass of crap. These films have taken (ah!) a real dive since the first. Taken 1 great. Taken 2 alright but ludicrous. Taken 3 is lazy garbage, there is no excuse.
